Adoption Fees

The adoption fee for a feline or canine pet adopted from the Regina Humane Society includes spay/neuter surgery, tattoo, microchip, vaccinations, and a post-adoption veterinary examination. (Click here for a list of participating clinics.)

Placing a Pet On-Hold

Please note that all holds are at the discretion of the Regina Humane Society.

  1. One Hour Hold
  • A one-hour hold may occur if the potential adopter has completed a Getting to Know You Adoption Application, met with the adoptable pet and an adoption counselor, and wishes to bring either family/children and/or a presently owned dog to meet with the animal.
  • No deposit is required for this hold.
  1. Overnight Hold
  • An overnight hold may occur if a potential adopter has requested to meet and/or adopt an animal, however, time is not available to complete the adoption at the time of closing.
  • The animal may be held overnight, and until 1:00 p.m. the next day.
  • No deposit is required for this hold.
  1. Deposit Holds
  • Interested adopters may hold an animal for up to 24 hours until they can come to the Shelter to meet the animal and adopt. This requires a $50 non-refundable, non-transferable By placing a deposit for a hold, the potential adopter recognizes and accepts that the deposit will not be refunded at any time and cannot be applied towards the adoption fee should the pet be adopted.
  • Please note, if the deposit is made on a Sunday, it will expire on Tuesday, due to Public Adoptions being closed on Mondays.
  • Holds may not be applied to specialty-fee animals or animals in offsite Satellite Adoption Centres, such as pet stores.
