Summer Activity Series

The Summer Activity Series at the Regina Humane Society is the perfect way for young animal lovers to spend an afternoon! Packed with fun, learning, and hands-on experiences, this exciting program lets kids step into the world of animal care and safety. With two unique and interactive courses to choose from, every session is an adventure full of tail wags, furry facts, and creative activities that inspire compassion and confidence around animals.

Time for sessions: 1:00 – 4:00 PM

Cost: $30 per child per session

  • This includes a peanut/nut-free snack (juice box, chocolate chip cookie, granola bar, and popsicle).

For ages 6 years – 10 years

Requirements: Children are required to bring their own water bottle, and guardians are responsible for sun protection (sunscreen, hats, sunglasses).

Program Information

The program consists of two rotating course options, each offered on select dates.

Each session is led by a summer student facilitator, who will guide activities, ensure participant safety, and encourage engagement. The program is designed to provide an educational yet fun experience, fostering a deeper understanding of animal welfare while building confidence in interacting with pets.

  • Dates: July 3rd, 17th, or 31st
  • Focus: Giving kids a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to keep animals happy and healthy, while discovering just how much responsibility (and fun!) comes with caring for our furry friends.
  • Activities Include:
    • A guided tour of the Humane Society facility
    • Learning about the Five Freedoms of animal welfare
    • Comparing human and animal needs
    • Participating in an animal care relay race
    • Creating an air-clay animal to take home

  • Dates: July 10th, or 24th
  • Focus: Helping kids build confidence around animals by learning how to safely say hello, spot important body language, and know what to do in tricky situations—all while having a blast!
  • Activities Include:
    • A guided tour of the Humane Society facility
    • Learning how to safely meet dogs and cats
    • Identifying which animals are safe to approach
    • Understanding what to do when feeling unsafe around an animal
    • Crafting a dog puppet to take home
