Benji (2009–2025), a rescued Shiba Inu–Yorkshire terrier cross, passed away on December 29, 2025, at 16.

He loved slow strolls around Balgonie and was skilled at slipping under newly installed fences to wander—then marking each stop so everyone could track his travels.

Fetch was his passion; he never passed up unattended food (Dad’s steak was a favorite), and he liked to sprawl across your feet to keep warm. A mischievous soul, Benji hid treats beneath Mom’s pillow “for later,” greeted other dogs with exuberant pees on them and frequently left surprise “gifts” at other family members’ homes.

Part prankster, part fiercely loyal companion, he usually returned only after Mom or Dad noticed he was gone—or the moment Mom called “treats.” He leaves behind many laughs and cherished memories. Rest easy, our sweet Benji.
