Corporate Volunteers

Looking for a unique way to engage your business, organization, or community group, enhance teamwork, and make a meaningful impact? The Regina Humane Society (RHS) offers a variety of corporate and team volunteer opportunities, which benefit both animals and people in our community. Through our Group Volunteer Program, you can bond with your team while making a difference in the lives of those we serve.

Time commitments vary. For some, volunteering with the Society is an annual project, while others schedule multiple visits throughout the year. We can work with your team to identify a volunteer project that will have the biggest impact on both of our organizations.

How to Volunteer

Single-session group volunteer days are hosted at the Animal Community Centre Monday to Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for groups of 5 to 15 people. To request a group volunteer opportunity, please complete the Group Volunteer Application and the Community Engagement Coordinator will reach out to the listed contact person. Space is limited and depends upon current Shelter needs and staff availability.

Cost

Our donation-based experiences help cover the resources needed to host groups, as well as provide funding for the sick, injured, and abused pets in our care. We request a minimum donation of $30 per participant. However, we understand that some groups may not have the means to contribute.  If this is the case for you, please contact the Community Engagement Coordinator at (306) 543-6363 ext. 336. or via email, here.

Volunteer Opportunities

A variety of experiences are offered for your team to volunteer behind the scenes to see how our Shelter runs, meet some of the animals staying at the Centre and contribute to the animals’ welfare.

Your volunteer day will begin with a tour of the Animal Community Centre, where you’ll learn about the efforts involved in providing shelter and care for the over 3,700 animals that arrive at the RHS each year. Following, depending on group size and volunteer opportunities available, volunteers may be split up into smaller groups. An animal visit and photo opportunity with an animal in our care* will also be provided.

Please note that the RHS does not offer direct animal care tasks as significant training is required. Volunteer tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Crafting enrichment toys for the animals in Shelter care;
  • Preparing food enrichment items for Shelter animals;
  • Preparing food and supplies for the Foster Care and Pet Connection Outreach Programs;
  • Shelter improvement projects such as spring/fall clean-up, window washing, raking, tending to gardens, etc.; and
  • Administrative tasks (e.g. assembling adoption packages).

Or . . .  does your team have a special skill that may be useful to the Shelter? Let us know on your application form!

*Photo opportunities with shelter animals are dependent on suitable animals in our care.
