The Regina Humane Society’s Full Throttle Furnace & Duct Cleaning Pet Therapy Program matches community volunteers with homeless animals at the Shelter who then visit senior care homes and rehabilitation facilities in the City of Regina. The benefits of this program to all involved is immense – our animals benefit from increased social interaction and human contact, the seniors and residents benefit both in terms of physical and mental well-being and the volunteers express great personal satisfaction from seeing firsthand the interactions between all involved.
The Pet Therapy Program has been in place for over 30 years and on average:
- Volunteers complete 450 visits a year in total;
- Cats, dogs and rabbits all participate in the program and are specifically selected for their temperament;
- We visit 40 unique locations (senior residential facilities and rehabilitation facilities.) Visits are approximately one hour in length. Volunteers are responsible for providing their own transportation and are responsible for the animal while in their care; and
- Over 100 volunteers assist with the program.
About Full Throttle Furnace & Duct Cleaning Inc.
Full Throttle Furnace & Duct Cleaning Inc. is proudly owned by a husband and wife team, Clint and Tania Orr, who truly take pride in building a business built on good old-fashioned customer service. Regina residents have been letting them into their homes to clean their furnaces, ductwork, air conditioning coils, air exchangers and dryer vents for more than six years and they say it’s time to start giving back to the community they love. With a staff full of animal lovers, having two rescue dogs themselves (and a cat), and understanding the joy the animals bring to the lives of people, they thought this program would be the perfect fit.
